I have melasma, so I use this as an extra layer of protection for my skin, along with my topical SPF. I like. the Heliocare Ultra, it's just too expensive, so I decided to give this one a try. I hope it's helping protect my skin. My one complaint is that is has cornstarch in it. I wish it's ingredient list was more "clean".

Heliocare for polymorphic light eruption
My dermatologist recommended Heliocare as I have a sun “allergy” called polymorphic light eruption (PMLE). Sunlight triggers and tensely itchy rash on my neck if I have not been out in the sun in awhile. It gets better with more exposure — so doesn’t usually affect my face though can. I am hopeful this will help. I am withholding a star until I’ve had some more time to see how well it works.

This oral supplement is great for photodamage from the sun. It helps protect from the inside out - you still need a sunscreen however! I am have fair skin and live in the desert and this has made a difference with the brown age spots! Wouldn't be without it!!

I had malasma on my left and right cheek area for years. I noticed that my skin is extremely sensitive to heat even if I am very careful with sun protection inside and outside the house. I know my spots will be darkened if my skin feels warm. I purchased the supplement based on dermatologist recommendation. I’ve only been using this for one month/1 bottle, but it seems promising enough for me to repurchase a few more bottles. My skin is super sensitive to sun and reacts with rashes when even in the sun for a few minutes. I haven’t had any rashes while taking it, but one caveat is I am careful to stay out of the sun and apply sunscreen. However I usually get rashes regardless, and I feel this has been protecting me because I haven’t experienced them so far this month.

This doesn't replace topical SPF products but can augment those. I've been using this supplement for years now. I use it daily in the spring/summer/fall and will double up the dose if going to be out in the sun for several hours, like when I'm paddle boarding. My skin looks young for my age.

I think it is helping my melasma
I live in a hot, sunny climate and struggle with melasma. My melasma is getting better since taking one Heliocare pill a day. I have also been wearing and reapplying mass amounts of sunscreen along with a lot of sun avoidance. I also have a strict skincare regimen with tyrosinase inhibitors and a retinoid. One other positive that probably isn't something most would think about is that it hasn't caused acne in my very breakout prone skin. So many supplements I introduce (B12, Biotin, B Complex, multivitamins, iodine, kelp, etc.) seem to cause breakouts. I have stayed clear while taking these. I also take niacinamide daily with this. So basically I will keep taking this, but I don't think it is the sole reason my melasma is not getting worse. It is an important part of my full regimen and I'd suggest you give it a try if you are on the fence and see how it does for you.

Noticeable Difference
I do not use this product every day, but I do use it on days when I anticipate a high level of UV exposure (i.e., days spent at the beach). I am fair and prone to burning, and I have noticed that this product seems to protect me from the sun better than sunscreen alone. Note: Always also use sunscreen, per instructions by manufacturer! Usually I get tan lines even with repeated sunscreen applications (every 30-45 minutes), but this product seems to help me avoid that, even when I'm in the water constantly (except when I get out to reapply). FYI, I do usually follow the suggestion on the bottle and take one in the morning and one later on in the day prior to swimming.

Its really tough to review this product, because I am so careful with using sunscreen, I would never know if this was helping. I do think it has good ingredients, though, and would probably buy again, if I was going to be out in the sun more than usual. (like on vacation )

It's hard to really see a "difference" because you don't exactly see the sun damage that you prevent... With that being said, I do trust the science behind this product and will repurchase. It's a little expensive to use year-round so I plan on buying again during the sunny summer months.
