Nothing protects 100%, but this is the best I've found.
I have really stubborn melasma, so I wear this just about every day no matter the weather or time of year. I don't burn or get much color on my face if I use this sunscreen and wear a hat, and my melasma remains somewhat in control (I can cover it with light makeup). I love that this doesn't leave a white cast (I'm pretty fair, though), it's not sticky or greasy, and it never stings my eyes. For these reasons, I use it on my daughter when I know she's going to be out in the sun for a long period. It was highly recommended years ago by my dermatologist, and it is effective, so I continue to pay the big bucks for this little tube.

Facial sunscreen is one of the most important things anyone at any age can actively do to protected/care for their skin and EltaMD is hands down THE best. Elta is dermatologist recommend, goes on nicely/no clogging … not to sticky or white, gives lots of moisture and finally it’s reasonably priced. Effective Sun Protection & Great with Makeup and Skin care
Over the years I’ve tried many a sunscreen. Some too white, others too greasy (sold as glow) and others simply incompatible with my makeup. I love EltaMD sunscreen because it works and has figured out how to be compatible with my other skincare products and my makeup. I use it everyday after applying vitamin C and moisturizer.
