Safe for sensitive skin prone to rosacea
I've been using this product for several years and I'm very happy with the results. I wanted a retinol serum but my skin is so very sensitive and prone to rosacea when exposed to certain products. I chose the lowest strength which is 0.25 because I thought the 1.0 and 0.5 would be too much for my sensitive skin. There are cheaper retinol products on the market, but a lot of them use containers that expose the contents to air and/or light which can potentially degrade the retinol. I am very pleased with the container used by SkinMedica because the integrity of the product is never compromised by air or light. The results of the 0.25 lower strength version are still fabulous and I'm never worried about getting rosacea while using it.

My first time ever using retinol and this intro product is very gentle that I have been using at least four times per week and I have sensitive skin. No breakout or dryness. I have not noticed much of a difference but I understand that it takes time especially with this low dose. So far I am happy.

This 0.25% retinol is very very gentle on my skin. It did not cause any burns, redness, irritation, or dryness issue, so to me, that's a PLUS! I've been using this product for more than three weeks now, but I do not see any marked difference in my skin tone or texture. I might try the 0.5% once I use up this product.

Great for a starter retinol but use carefully if you have sensitive skin
Initially I applied this incorrectly and my skin reacted negatively with burning sensation and irritation. I ended up returning and then rebuying again to give another try as I had a worse reaction with another brand. Read online the recommendation to mix with moisturizer and this worked much better for me. It is also recommended to apply moisturizer first, which I do now and then mix the retinol with a bit of the moisturizer and I have had no reaction or burning to the product since then.

Superb Introduction to Retinol: this was an outstanding, gentle retinol that was easy to use on my very sensitive, rosacea prone skin. Used this as an introduction to trying to use retinol and it’s so well-formulated that my skin tolerated it. I used it as directed and my skin was not irritated even though it’s very sensitive. The retinol felt comfortable on my skin. It does not have any irritating fragrance or essential oils as many brands do, even cosmeceutical brands do. My skin is starting to look more refined. I plan to purchase another 0.25 of this retinol, after finishing that, will move onto SkinMedica’s 0.50 Retinol.
