Apply with cream to minimize excessive exfoliation
The 1.0 retinol cream is a bit strong for me in that nightly use has caused too much exfoliation. Rather than switching to a lower strength, I have been using it every few days by first applying a light moisturizer, then the retinol, and then a stronger cream like SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore. In this way, I've been able to go from one to three times weekly with minimal exfoliation issues and will continue the protocol until able to apply daily. I like the SkinMedica Retinol pump container and the consistency of the cream and am also applying it to skin on the back of my hands as an experiment.

It's the perfect Retinol
I am 58 years old and have mature skin with a little sun damage. I have only been using this retinol for a little over a week. Every two days and it suits me nicely. It doesn't burn or irritate my skin. It makes it feel tighter. I have been following it with the skin medica dermal repair. I believe it's a nice combo. Also the skin medica tns eye repair. I love SkinMedica; however, this product did not respond well to my skin. I have always used a tretinoin (which is strong), but my face was very sensitive and very red, so I thought I will give this a try. Looking back, I should have probably started off with the .5 rather than the 1.0. Ultimately, I switched up my skincare routine with other products.
