Too Strong for Sensitive Skin
I normally order the SkinMedica Retinol Comples in the 0.25 strength - which has never caused any problems for my very sensitive skin. I decided to move up to the 0.5 strength and quickly discovered that it caused burning and peeling and itching. After my skin recuperates I'll reorder it in the 0.25 strength. The lesson learned for those of us with sensitive skin is to figure out what your maximum strength is and then stay there.

I use the retinol 0.5 every other evening. I'm 73 and find my skin does not tolerate nightly application as well as I age. I do combine retinol with a little night cream from a different brand. After well absorbed I apply a moisturizer. I feel my skin is healthy and well maintained.

I’ve purchased 2 bottles. The product in the first bottle was a tan color. It did nothing. I had no skin peeling. No skin improvement. The product in the most recent second bottle was very white & my skin peeled quite a bit. I can only guess that the first bottle was defective. Upsetting since I spent so much money on it. I’m still using the second bottle. Hoping for some improvement in brown spots, but no difference yet. So, overall, I’m not sure what to think or if I’d risk ordering again.

I started using Skinmedica Retinol 1.0, and found that was just too strong for my skin. I had thought because I used Differin gel for years I could start on a greater concentration. Big mistake. So I purchased the 0.5 concentration which is much better suited to my skin.
