The Obagi Nu-Derm system is the answer to sun-damaged and aging skin. This comprehensive regimen targets signs of aging including fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots and a rough texture and is ideal for all skin types. Studies show that this system is proven to create brighter and smoother skin while diminishing visible signs of aging.

Obagi Nu-Derm systems are designed to target both an uneven tone and an uneven texture. The formulas contain powerful ingredients that inhibit the production of melanin, the substance that controls pigment in the skin. These ingredients fade discoloration to create a brighter, more even tone. The formulas also contain ingredients such as glycolic acid and lactic acid that encourage cell renewal to minimize fine lines and wrinkles.

How to Use the Obagi Nu-Derm line

All of the Obagi Nu-Derm products are labeled with numbers to help you easily follow the regimen.

Morning:

Step 1 – Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser or Nu-Derm Foaming Gel: Apply to damp face and neck with moistened fingertips. Rinse completely with warm water.

Step 2 – Nu-Derm Toner: Apply after cleansing. Saturate cotton pad and wipe gently over face and neck. Avoid the eyelid area. Do not rinse off.

Step 3 - Nu-Derm Clear Fx: Measure ½ to 1 gram (approximately 1 to 2 pea-size drops) and apply evenly to the entire face. Avoid contact with the eyes.

Step 4 - Nu-Derm Exfoderm or Nu-Derm Exfoderm Forte: Apply to face following the application of Obagi Nu-Derm Clear or as directed by your physician.

Step 5 - Hydrate Facial Moisturizer: Apply a thin layer to the face.

Step 6 - Sun Shield SPF 50: Apply liberally 30 minutes before sun exposure and reapply as needed every two to three hours or after towel drying, swimming or perspiring. For use on children younger than six months, consult a physician.

Evening:

Step 1 – Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser or Nu-Derm Foaming Gel: Apply to damp face and neck with moistened fingertips. Rinse completely with warm water.

Step 2 - Nu-Derm Toner: Apply after cleansing. Saturate cotton pad and wipe gently over face and neck. Avoid the eyelid area. Do not rinse off.

Step 3 - Nu-Derm Clear Fx: Measure ½ to 1 gram (approximately 1 to 2 pea-size drops) and apply evenly to the entire face. Avoid contact with the eyes.

Step 4 - Nu-Derm Blend Fx: Use this product mixed with your tretinoin/Retin-A. Measure ½ to 1 gram (approximately 1 to 2 pea-size drops) and apply evenly to the entire face, avoiding the eyelid area. Massage until completely absorbed.

Step 5 - Hydrate Facial Moisturizer: Apply a thin layer to the face.

What to Expect with Obagi Nu-Derm

Week 1-6

It can take a few weeks for your skin to adapt to the Nu-Derm system. During this time, old skin cells are being pushed to the surface and replaced with young, healthy cells. You will experience dryness, redness and flaking which are completely normal side effects.

Week 7-12

During this time, your skin is becoming acclimated to the system and any side effects should begin to subside. The skin begins to produce normal, healthy cells at regular intervals so you will begin to notice smoother and softer skin as well as a more even tone.

Week 13-18

By this time, your skin has adapted to consistent cell renewal so all you will experience is a more even tone and healthy glow. During this time, collagen production will be stimulated, making fine lines and wrinkles less noticeable and creating a firmer and tighter complexion.
