Too intense for me
I started out with the lower concentration and worked my way up to this. I couldn't stand the peeling stage - too drying and uncomfortable. I don't think retinol is for me.

Not a Retinol girl, I guess
I find this irritating to my skin even though it is a low dose of active ingredients. I’ve come to the conclusion that my skin is just too sensitive. But I’m betting it works wonders when used regularly on someone who doesn’t have to guard their skin as much. I say this because after all, it is SkinMedica. :)

Too harsh for my skin, got a Rx instead
Started breaking out (as anticipated) and just didn't want to use it anymore because my face hurt so bad. I probably didn't give it enough time for my skin to get used to it. Went to a dermatologist shortly after ordering this and they wrote me a prescription instead.

I started using Skinmedica Retinol 1.0, and found that was just too strong for my skin. I had thought because I used Differin gel for years I could start on a greater concentration. Big mistake. So I purchased the 0.5 concentration which is much better suited to my skin. I definitely feel as though I am getting the benefits of retinol (skin texture, brightness and overall clarity) without the side effects now. I highly recommend Skinmedica Retinol. I would just suggest starting with a lower concentration and working your way up.

It’s okay
I decided to try this brand instead of another 0.5 that I use. At first it seemed okay, but I did end up getting a retinol burn. I take the blame for that, but….. I also notice that my face feels tacky (after PM use) after washing in the AM. I will continue to use it as these items are not cheap, but I do not plan to purchase it again.

Can't live without this product!
I started with the 0.25 concentration and have now moved up to the 0.5 concentration. SkinMedica's Retinol has improved the texture of my skin after intense acne as a teenager. It has also helped to calm down my rosacea that flared after having my second child. I cannot be without this product!

I am really enjoying this product. I did use a .25 retinol prior to this (a different brand) but decided to use this as a next step after my med spa NP recommended it. Honestly, I love the results. I use after I cleanse, use hyaluronic acid, and then moisturize as I have sensitive skin. I let the HA absorb for a few minutes, then put on the moisturizer and let it sit for at least 15-20m before putting a pea size amount of the retinol complex on my face. I have been doing it every other evening and my skin is already looking amazing. I put it on right before bed BTW. I will eventually try it as recommended, on clean skin after cleansing but before any other product, but for now, I am going to continue layering to protect my skin barrier and to decrease any retinol side effects.
